August e-newsletter - 18 months of changing lives!

In August we reflected on 18 months of changing lives - providing safe, supported housing for rangatahi at risk of homelessness, while looking ahead to the next stage of our youth housing project.

Working alongside the Christchurch Methodist Mission team, we’ve seen the life-changing difference that having a safe and stable place to call home can make for the 72 young people who we have welcomed.

At the same time, the demand for youth housing continues to grow. For every room that becomes available, we receive around 10 referrals from rangatahi needing a home.

We’re working hard to secure funding to expand our housing options, with plans to build 10 one-and-a-half-bedroom youth apartments for young parents and young people who are not suited to communal living.

In this edition, we also look ahead to the release of a short documentary sharing the stories of our housing service and tenants, created by John Sellwood from Telling Lives, and welcome Geoff Siave to the Youth Hub Chch board.
